Environmental Movements in History 🌳

Image
The Great Environmental Movement “Chipko Movement” Chipko Movement is an environmental movement that occurred in rural regions of India in the 1970s. The purpose of this movement was to protect trees and land from people who tried to destroy nature and to use the lands in developing the region. The “Chipko” in Hindi means “embrace”. It came from the action that people who tried to protect the trees embraced the trees. In 1963, Indians living in the land began to try to develop their land. As the development proceeded, the land began to be destroyed and, of course, trees and plants suffered from the development. At that time, there were people who attempted to go against the people who wanted the development. They were just villagers who had been living on the land for a long time. Because their lives were highly dependent on nature and the land, they really did not want the land to be destroyed. But, since the government was also trying to develop the land by implementing many policies...

Air Pollution 😷

Image
Serious, But Soluble Since the industrial revolution, humans began to develop what was not discovered since then. People digged grounds, extracted oils and gained coals from the earth. Although it is good to use them to develop technologies and make lives comfortable, they have negative effects on humans and the earth by causing severe air pollution. There are many things that cause air pollution. Firstly, greenhouse gases primarily cause air pollution. These greenhouse gases are usually formed by combustion or burning of fossil fuels, such as oils and coals, in order to produce energy needed in our lives. The greenhouse gases are released to the atmosphere and, at that point, they cause the problem that they trap heat from the sun in the atmosphere, which increases the temperature of the earth. Also, they create more smog, mold, and pollen in the environment. Secondly, smog causes air pollution. It is formed by burning sulfides and chemical reactions between sunlight and nitrogen oxid...

Relationship Between Air Quality and Ecosystem 🌱🐇🐖💁

Image
Ecosystem is a group of living things and their surroundings which interact with each other. There are many factors that can affect animals living in ecosystems (such as rivers, ocean, forests, mountains and even underground) as air pollution is further added. Since nature has changed due to air pollution, many living things are suffering and also change their habitats or living ways. Ecosystems are circulation of living things, including animals and plants, when they are consumed by the upper level and produced by excretion from the highest-level animals. It means that all living things are linked through the ecological pyramid and food chain. If the producers are affected by the poor air quality and not produced well as before, then the upper classes, primary consumers and secondary consumers are also affected negatively because there will be less producers that they can consume to survive. How is the environment affected by air quality? When air pollution appears ...
