Ocean Pollution 🌊

Ocean Is Full Of Plastic

Since the Industrial Revolution era, people have begun to develop and invent many beneficial and useful things for our lives. One of them is PLASTIC. It is very useful in our lives because it is durable. But, actually, because it is durable, it is worse for the environment on the earth. Every year, people produce more than 300 million tons of plastic, like plastic bottles and plastic bags, etc. Because plastics are so durable, it is not easier to be decomposed. So it takes a very long time to be decomposed completely. The reason that they are harmful for the environment is because they contain toxic chemicals and emit them to the environment while they are decomposed. Also, they can be eaten by many animals, especially marine animals in the ocean, which don’t know what they are, and they make the animals die.

The video that I watched is called “Plastic Ocean”. It talked about how plastics can affect the ocean and marine animals on the earth. It says that, if we throw plastics into the ocean, the plastics move to other regions of the ocean. They are heaped on the shore and they are eaten by a lot of marine animals. This video focused on the seabirds. It showed many dead seabirds which died because they ate so many pieces of plastics. Scientists, who appeared in the video, counted all the pieces of plastics in a seabird, and the number of the pieces of plastics was around 234 pieces. I felt sorry for the seabird because it died because of human activities of using plastics and throwing them out to the ocean.

After I watched the video, I thought that we have to reduce the use of plastics in order to save the earth, lives of living things, and us. But, actually we cannot stop using them because they are necessary in our lives. So I think we need to figure out some solutions that make us be able to use plastics but that make us not harm our earth, such as recyclable plastics. Let’s save our earth!
