Serious, But Soluble

Since the industrial revolution, humans began to develop what was not discovered since then. People digged grounds, extracted oils and gained coals from the earth. Although it is good to use them to develop technologies and make lives comfortable, they have negative effects on humans and the earth by causing severe air pollution.

There are many things that cause air pollution. Firstly, greenhouse gases primarily cause air pollution. These greenhouse gases are usually formed by combustion or burning of fossil fuels, such as oils and coals, in order to produce energy needed in our lives. The greenhouse gases are released to the atmosphere and, at that point, they cause the problem that they trap heat from the sun in the atmosphere, which increases the temperature of the earth. Also, they create more smog, mold, and pollen in the environment. Secondly, smog causes air pollution. It is formed by burning sulfides and chemical reactions between sunlight and nitrogen oxides. It has harmful effects on human health, such as respiratory distress and low visibility. Lastly, toxic pollutants are a part of air pollution. They are harmful for the human body as well as for the environment. For instance, these toxic pollutants can lead to cancer, reproductive problems, and birth defects.


However, nevertheless, there are solutions for air pollution. We have to reduce the use of fossil fuels by taking public transportation rather than cars and conserving electricity. Also, to decrease the amounts of toxic pollutants, we should stop using disposable products, practice recycling and separate collection, and discharge least amounts of garbage. If we practice these for a long time, then, there we would be able to save us and the earth.


After I watched the video, I realized that air pollution is a really serious problem and harmful for human health. When I was young, air pollution was not that severe so people didn’t care that much about it. But, now, I even notice that air quality is too low to breathe air. Because there are solutions, I will try them as hard as I can.
